Guest Lecturer David Williams
I have lived with my wife, Dale, on magnificent Flinders Island in the wild, wild Bass Strait for a number of years after escaping from the pressure world of finance in Sydney. I represented our local island community on council for sixteen years and enjoyed contributing to the improvement of the island’s facilities and the wonderful lifestyle.
However, my passion lies in the great outdoors where I have spent a lifetime running, hiking and simply enjoying everything that nature offers. I am driven by the need to stay fit and healthy as I get older and spend time in encouraging others to get out there and get the most out of life. I have even written a book that is intended to inspire others to see what they are capable of. I have run some crazy distances to raise funds to support cancer research.
Dale and I have been lucky enough to spend six months as caretakers on the remote Deal Island (Kent Group) looking after the infrastructure and enjoying the solitude.
Over the years I have also been an avid birdwatcher. Tasmania has such a rich and diverse number of species that I never tire of studying their behaviour.
I have enjoyed travelling around the world indulging in some wonderful adventures, but I have no doubt that Tasmania is the most special place.
I am proud to be part of the Coral Expeditions team and am excited to be going back to the special wilderness places that we will be visiting. I look forward to sharing it all with you.
