Antechamber Bay & Cape Willoughby
Located at the easternmost point of Kangaroo Island, venture through Cape Willoughby Conservation Park and experience the first lighthouse ever built in South Australia. Standing since 1852, the lighthouse soars 27 meters high. The 102 step climb to the lookout tower leads to incredible panoramic views of the coastline.
Steeped in maritime history, immerse yourself in the environment, learn about the lives of early lighthouse keepers and take the opportunity to tour the historic lighthouse keeper’s cottage.
Beachcombers and swimmers alike can enjoy the turquoise waters of Antechamber Bay, and walking trails allow for further insight into the isolated, rugged landscape.
This area is dedicated to agriculture and conservation to preserve the valuable natural beauty of the land and the wildlife that call it home. You may be able to spot some Kangaroo Island kangaroos while admiring the landscape. These kangaroos are more petite and don a fluffier coat than their mainland relative. Keep an eye out for them grazing in the hours of the early morning or late afternoon.
