Harrison joined the Coral Expeditions team on Christmas eve of 2018, then working as a General Purpose Hand, now in the role of Bosun. Harrison works closely with the Chief Mate to organise boating movements and general maintenance tasks as well as guiding the deck crew in order to best face the tasks faced on a day-to-day basis.
‘As a kid I loved going to the beach and being on the ocean and thought this would be a suited career to be able to continue this love for it whilst making a lifestyle out of it. I started off with my Coxswains ticket and master <24m whilst I was still in school and then wanted to continue further up the chain. I saw Coral Expeditions as a perfect opportunity to grow and be able to gain the qualifications I need to achieve my goal of being a Captain and eventually a Harbour Pilot.’
Harrison points to being able to help people learn and show them ropes, whilst also being able to look up to the Master mariners on board for inspiration, guidance and knowledge as his favourite part of his role. ‘I also love driving the tenders, being on the ocean, and being able to travel to many incredible places which many people will never have the chance to visit.’
